Colossians 1:25-29 (KJV):
"Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily."
In this passage, Paul is explaining several key points:
1. His Role as Minister: Paul explains that God appointed him as a minister specifically to serve others and fulfill God's word. This is his divine calling and responsibility.
2. The Revealed Mystery: Paul speaks of a "mystery" that was hidden for ages but has now been revealed to believers ("his saints"). This mystery is that Christ would dwell within Gentiles (non-Jews) as well as Jews - a revolutionary concept at the time.
3. Christ Within Believers: The central message is "Christ in you, the hope of glory" - meaning that Christ literally dwells within believers, giving them the hope of future glory and transformation.
4. Universal Message: Paul emphasizes that this message is for "every man" (repeated three times), showing that salvation through Christ is universal and not limited to any particular group.
5. Purpose of Ministry: Paul's goal is to bring everyone to spiritual maturity ("perfect") in Christ through teaching and warning. He works hard at this, empowered by God's strength working through him.
The overarching theme is that Paul is revealing God's plan that had been hidden - that Christ would dwell within both Jews and Gentiles, transforming them from within, with the ultimate goal of bringing all believers to spiritual maturity.
