Proverbs 14:10 in the King James Version reads: "The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy."

This proverb speaks to the deeply personal nature of our innermost feelings and experiences. It suggests that each person's emotional experiences - both their sorrows ("bitterness") and joys - are uniquely their own and cannot be fully understood by others.

The first part, "The heart knoweth his own bitterness," acknowledges that each person's pain and struggles are deeply personal. Only we truly know the depth of our own suffering and challenges.

The second part, "a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy," suggests that just as our sorrows are personal, so too are our deepest joys. Others may observe or participate in our happiness, but they cannot fully experience or understand the depth of our personal joy.

This proverb points to the fundamental privacy and uniqueness of human emotional experience, while also suggesting the limitations of human empathy - even when others try to understand our feelings, there are aspects of our inner experience that remain uniquely our own.
